First Appearance : At the beginning of Volume #01. Prized Possession : When playing So-Na's game at the beginning of Volume #01 the item Hae-Gi gives as his precious item is a marble with the image of a feather or wing (looks like a feather to me ^^;) inside it. Hae-Gi keeps it because it belonged to Gae-Ri, who liked it because he thought it looked like it had a wing inside. Profile from volume #1 : Hae-Gi is unusual looking, even for a model. Sometimes his eyes seem empty and cold, but a moment later they look like the eyes of a child. He looks good in bright, dramatic colours. Could that be because a passionate nature is hidden deep inside? What will happen if he ever lets himself go? Family : Mother 1 older brother - Gae-Ri (deceased) 1 younger brother - Ko-Mo Occupation : Initially Hae-Gi has part-time jobs in a convenience store called Dong-Ne Mart and a gas station. He also works as a model in advertisments which run in several magazines, including 'Issue', 'Chi' and 'Cindy the Porky' (which I hope is a made up name ^^;). In volume #2, however, he signs a contract with the photographer Charles and becomes a nude model. Hobbies : What with all the different jobs he holds down, I don't think Hae-Gi has time for hobbies ^^; Ambition : His main ambitions seem to be to become a pilot (although that's mostly because he wants to fulfill Gae-Ri's dream rather than any real desire on his part), to earn enough money for his mother's operation and to take care of his family. Name Meaning : From the definition given by So-Na from her mother's book Snowdrop, the name Hae-Gi is short for Hae-Ba-Ra-Gi, or sunflower, and is the name for the summer season. When So-Na learns Hae-Gi's name she instantly connects it with the name of one of the characters in her mother's book but wonders why anyone would call a boy after a flower. Hae-Gi himself is very sensitive about his name as he knows he's named after the sunflower. No one else - other than So-Na - knows why he's so uptight about his name as they don't make the connection (as, really, it's not a particularly obvious thing ^^;). However, when So-Na and Hae-Gi meet for the first time out of school in the florist's and So-Na talks about snow drops, Hae-Gi instantly assumes she is making fun of him. When he confronts her about it she realises his name really does mean sunflower and laughs until she cries. This makes Hae-Gi so angry that he leaves. About : Of all the characters in Snowdrop, Hae-Gi is the one most often compared to flowers. In volume #1, So-Na tells him he's a dendrobium - which means 'haughty beauty'. By volume #2 she thinks he's more like wolfsbane - looks beautiful but inside it's poison. This is perhaps because Hae-Gi is a difficult person to understand. On the surface he seems to be 'perfect' - not only is he exceptionally handsome, he's also intelligent, popular and sporty. He would also seem to be very lucky as he is making a name for himself as a model. However, the truth is that everything Hae-Gi does he does because he feels it's his responsibility, not because he wants to. It's very unlikely that he actually enjoys being - or wants to be - a model: it's something he does to earn money. It's also unlikely that he wants to be a pilot - that's something he feels he has to do for his brother and mother. All in all, Hae-Gi is a very responsible person. He does what needs to be done and he doesn't complain about it, even though this often means sacrificing the things he wants and needs. | |
